STONY BROOK, N.Y. - It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of
Dan Arena. Following a long and courageous battle with cancer, Dan passed away on November 8, 2016. Dan began his career in 1988 in the Department of Athletics and was a member of the Stony Brook family for the past 28 years serving proudly as our Assistant Manager of Equipment Operations.
On behalf of the entire university community, we extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Arena Family during this difficult time. We lost a treasured member of our family, a good friend and a devoted fan. Dan touched many lives including thousands of student-athletes and his spirit will live on as a life-time Seawolves Fan.
All are invited to join in celebrating Dan's life this Thursday as follows: Reposing at the O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 1001 Rt. 25A, Miller Place, N.Y. Visitation Thursday 9:30 am to 10:30 am. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:15 am. Thursday at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church, 75 New York Avenue, Sound Beach, N.Y. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village, N.Y.
