STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook head volleyball coach
Kristin Belzung has announced the hiring of two assistant coaches, as
Sarah Bullock and
Marc Neef will join the Seawolves for the 2017 season.
"I am excited to have Sarah and Marc in place to help us build a culture of success for Seawolves volleyball," said Belzung. "We are lucky to have them, and I know they will be great additions to the Stony Brook community.
"Sarah brings a competitive personality from her student-athlete experience at Auburn to both the gym and recruiting trail. She will easily connect with our recruits and be a tremendous asset training our pin hitters.
"Marc's experience at UCF - especially his ability to break down opponents at the highest level and build a game plan - will make a big impact for our program. He also brings experience in recruiting a high-caliber student to Cornell College and shares our passion for helping create a complete student-athlete experience."
Bullock joins the Seawolves after spending the last two seasons at UT-Arlington. The Texas native helped develop one of the Mavericks' outside hitters to a Sun Belt all-conference selection in 2016 while overseeing the team's outside and right side hitters.
Bullock is a 2013 alumna of Auburn, where she helped the Tigers to the program's first NCAA tournament appearance as a sophomore in 2010 and is one of six players in program history to tally 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
Neef comes to Long Island after two seasons at UCF. In 2016, the Knights won 23 matches, as Neef led the scouting efforts for the team. Prior to that Neef spent seven years as an assistant at Cornell College, as the Rams went 158-70 in his time on the bench.
Neef served as a student assistant coach at Cornell College before joining the staff full-time for the 2012 season. The Rams collected a conference championship and earned a berth to the NCAA Division III tournament in each of Neef's final four years at Cornell College. Neef is a 2012 alumnus of Cornell College and received his MBA from UCF in 2016.
