Seawolves Add 10 During Early Signing Period


STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook football and head coach Chuck Priore signed 10 players during Wednesday's early National Signing Day. 

Among Wednesday's 10 additions are seven players from New York with three from Long Island. In addition to the local flavor of the class, there is one player from New Jersey, Connecticut and South Carolina.

The 2018 early signing class breakdown also includes six offensive players and two on the defensive side of the ball and a special teams player. 

The Seawolves are set to open the 2019 season in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium with the first of seven home games when Bryant returns to Long Island on Aug. 31.
 
Season tickets for the 2019 schedule that includes home games against non-conference foes Bryant, Wagner and Fordham and CAA Football opponents James Madison, New Hampshire, Towson and UAlbany are available to renew online now or by calling 631-632-WOLF.

Recorded 1,403 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns for coach John Whitehead as a senior at Paramus Catholic in 2018…Carried the ball 86 times in 2017 for 680 yards and eight touchdowns...Also had four catches for 159 yards and two touchdowns…In 2016 he recorded 84 carries for 486 yards and six touchdowns…Collected 113 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball during those two seasons…Ranked as a three-star by both 247 Sports and Rivals.com.

Played for coach Derek Landri at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute…Helped the team average over 300 rushing yards per game in 2018.

Owns the New Jersey high school record for field goals made (50) and point scored (253)…Played in 47 varsity games for coach Augie Hoffman…Made 113 career PATS and 50 field goals…Nailed a 49-yard field goal in 2017…Averaged 43.8 yards per punt in 2018…Collected 89 touchbacks on kickoffs with an average of 54.6 yards per kickoff…Helped St. Joseph's claim the Non-Public Group of Four Championship as a senior.

Helped Archbishop Stepinac claim the NYCHSFL AAA Championship in 2018 and also win in 2015 and 2017…Pulled down 112 catches for 2,238 yards and 23 touchdowns during his varsity career for coach Mike O'Donnell...Also had 91 carries out of the backfield for 633 yards and 10 touchdowns…As a senior in 2018 he had 65 receptions for 1356 yards (most in New York state) and 13 touchdowns to go with 21 carries and 106 rushing yards…Recorded 1088 career kickoff return yards…Helped Archbiship Stepinac finished No. 1 in the state and No. 5 in the tri-state area as a junior in 2017.

Two-way standout led Freeport to an undefeated Long Island Championship season for head coach Russ Cellan…In his senior season, his 25 solo tackles, 1 interception, 17 pass break ups and 7 touchdowns helped Freeport win the prestigious Rutgers Cup as the best team in Nassau County…In the Long Island Championship game, Jackson scored the first touchdown, blocked a game tying kick and recorded the game sealing interception.
 
AIDAN KALER – H BACK – 6-2 – 220
Sayville, N.Y. – Sayville HS
Received the Rob Burnett Award as Suffolk County's top defensive player as well as the Collotta Award as Suffolk's top LB…Named first team All-Long Island by NEWSDAY…Averaged 12.0 tackles per game as a senior…Recorded 120 total tackles with 54 solo stops and 16.0 tackles for a loss…Helped guide Sayville to the semifinals of the Suffolk County III Playoffs for coach Reade Sands.
 
JUSTIN MORGAN – OL – 6-6 - 335
Bronx, N.Y. – Independence Community College (Kansas)
Mammoth offensive lineman has the ability to play both Guard and Tackle…The former three star recruit originally signed with Pittsburgh and played the past season at Independence Community College for Coach Jason Brown… Paved the way for an offense that averaged 150 rushing yards per game and nearly 400 total yards per game in the Jayhawk Football Conference…The New York native played high school ball at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn.
 
CAL REDMAN – TE – 6-4 – 230
Hebron, Conn. – RHAM HS
Multi-position athlete that played some QB, LB and DE in addition to TE for coach Robert Rubin at RHAM…Recorded 1,147 passing yards and 13 touchdowns as a QB and rushed for 1,004 yards on 95 carries as a senior…Collected 2,445 career rushing yards and 33 touchdowns…Added 107 total tackles and five sacks on the defensive side of the ball as a senior…Named to the 2018 Walter Camp All-Connecticut Team as well as earned first team CHSCA All-State honors.
 
JUSTIN REESE – DB – 6-0 – 175
Rock Hill, S.C. – South Pointe HS
Spent 2018 at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y. as a post graduate for Coach Bill Chaplick…Was twice named defensive player of the game in 2018 and recorded six interceptions this past season…As a senior at South Pointe HS in Rock Hill, S.C., he recorded 55 total tackles, one interception, four forced fumbles as his team went undefeated en route to a South Carolina state championship…In his career at South Pointe he amassed 80 total tackles, 28 pass break ups, 10 interceptions and 7 forced fumbles.
