Biography
2018-19: Played and started in 23 games… Averaged 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds along with 56 assists, 17 blocks and 43 steals… Scored double-digit points in 21 games… Notched season-high 24 points vs. Georgia Southern (11/20)… Recorded career-high 10 rebounds at Hartford (3/10) in the America East Semifinals, six assists and three blocks vs. Cornell (12/1) and six steals at Iona (12/11)… Career free throw percentage (.817) is best in program history… Also ranks in the top-10 in school history in career (141) and season (68) 3-pointers made, career (.372) and season (.393) 3-point percentage, season free throw percentage (.811) and single-game threes made (6)… Named America East First Team All-Conference and MBWA All-Met Third Team… Named America East Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 28.
2017-18: Started in all 30 games for the Seawolves, recording 14.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game… Scored career-high 28 points at Binghamton (1/18)… Grabbed career-high eight rebounds in season opener vs. Manhattan (11/11)… Nailed career-best six 3-pointers at Hartford (2/3)… Set single-season program record for 3-point field goal percentage (.380)… Named to America East All-Third Team.
2016-17: Appeared in 20 games off the bench … Averaged 2.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game … Tallied a career-high 13 points to go along with five rebounds vs. Binghamton (1/22) … Scored eight points in a win over Maine (1/14) … Grabbed a career-high six rebounds at St. Bonaventure (11/30).
2015-16: Saw time in 10 games, starting three...scored five points at Hofstra, including her first career field goal and three-pointer (11/17)...tallied a career-high six points at Columbia (11/23).
High School: At Marian Catholic, Matthews was a four-year captain under head coach Dan Murray. During her sophomore season she averaged 17 points per game, helping the Spartans to a phenomenal 31-1 campaign that culminated with an Illinois state championship. A pure shooter, she shot 52.0% from three-point range as a junior.
Matthews has also produced outstanding seasons in AAU and summer ball. As a member of the Mac Irvin Chicago Lady Fire, Matthews served as a catalyst for the squad's 28-2 record and championship win in the Charlotte Summer Basketball Playoffs in 2014. She was named to the All-Star Team at the USJN Mid-American Challenge.
