WILLAMSBURG, Va. — The Stony Brook track and field teams stood out in the 400 relay on Day 2 of the Colonial Relays.
Both the men's and women's squads produced victories in the event.
The men, with
Matthew Cappock,
Patrick Abel,
Joshua Titus and
Anthony Urbancik, posted a time of 42.37 to top runner-up Lynchburg (43.52).
The women, with
Jaelyn Davis,
Dana Cerbone,
Akajia Atkins and
Amanda Stead, posted a time of 47.03 to defeat runner-up George Mason (47.14).
"The 4x100 is always such a fun race," Stead said. "The relay squad was really determined to do well today and we came out with the win. We have a lot to improve on, but by championship season we will be ready."
Stony Brook received other strong performances as well:
• Stead finished second in women's 200 dash at 24.40.
• Urbancik was fourth in the men's 200 dash at 22.32.

Gavin Da Vanzo finished fifth in the men's triple jump at 12.22m.
