Stony Brook Football Spring Notebook - Week 3

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Another week of Spring ball marked another week of progress for the Stony Brook University football program. The Seawolves held their second intrasquad scrimmage of the Spring season this past Saturday and followed up with a pair of solid practices on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. 

Saturday’s scrimmage was another opportunity for the Seawolves to suit up and simulate game-like scenarios in preparation for the full 2022 slate. The day began with individual drills, which was followed by 7 on 7, and then a full 11 on 11. 

Tuesday’s practice found the Seawolves inside the state-of-the-art indoor practice facility. Tight end Cal Redman was mic’d up for the duration of the practice, which was a unique opportunity to get an inside look at the happenings of a Spring practice from the student-athlete’s perspective. 

News 12 Long Island visited practice on Thursday morning and caught up with coach Priore as well as captains Kyle Nunez and Reidgee Dimanche. 

Stony Brook is back on the field for their third intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday at 10 a.m. The scrimmage is open to the public. Saturday’s scrimmage marks the team’s final scrimmage before the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. Following Saturday’s scrimmage, the team will head over to a local soup kitchen to volunteer its team and give back to the community.

2022 STONY BROOK FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Stony Brook announced its full 2022 schedule on March 22. The schedule features five home games at LaValle Stadium, the eight-game CAA slate, as well as a marquee non-conference matchup with FBS foe UMass.
