Lindsey Prince posted victories in singles and doubles play, one of three players to do so, in leading Stony Brook to a 6-1 victory over LIU-Brooklyn Friday afternoon at the Stony Brook 4-way Tournament. Drexel did not drop a set in defeating Siena, 7-0, in the other match of the first day.
Prince defeated Natlia Herrera, 6-2, 6-2, at number four singles and teamed with Martha Barrett at number one doubles for an 8-2 victory. Barrett improved to a team-best 9-2 with a convincing 6-0, 1-0 (retired) over Rachel Berenbaum. Barbara Affertsholt won for the fifth time against four losses with a 6-1, 1-0 (retired) over Anixa Almeyda.
The Seawolves only loss came at number three singles where Leslie Harvey defeated Carmie Zink, 6-2, 6-2.
Stony Brook improves to 2-0 on the season. The Seawolves take on Siena and Drexel tomorrow in day two of the tournament. Drexel cruised to a 7-0 win over Siena and did not lose a set in the match.
