Bronx, N.Y. -
Jenny Payne set a new school record while Corinne Leake and Chris Hunt ran the second-fastest times in school history as the Seawolves opened the indoor track and field season at Fordham on Friday.
Payne's time of 5:18.2, which broke the old record of 5:19.94 set by Meredith Reh in 1998, led to a first-place finish for the senior. Meanwhile, Corinne Leake's time of 1:19.6 (ht) in the 500m gave her first place in the event and the second-best time in Seawolves history. Chris Hunt repeated the feat in the men's 500m, running the event in 1:05.6 (ht) for first place and second place in Stony Brook history.
In other women's results, Payne and Leake teamed with Karla Faustin and Tina Huggler to post a victory in the distance medley relay with a time of 13:00.3.
Other first-place finishers were Faustin in the 800m (2:36.3) and Huggler in the 1000m (3:13.2).
