Shepherd Leads Track And Field At SCSU Invitational

New Haven, Conn. - Sophomore Dana Shepherd led the Stony Brook track and field team this past weekend at the Southern Connecticut Invitational.

Shepherd finished second in the 100m with a time of 13.04 and second in the 200m with a time of 26.46. That time was the third-fastest in school history.

Shepherd also helped lead the 4x100 relay team--along with Tameika Henry, Nicola Baker and Farah Belizario--to a third-place finish. Their time of 49.73 was the second-fastest ever in Seawolves history.

Jenny Payne recorded a second-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:44.05, a time that ranks second-fastest in SBU history.

Henry also finished third in the 100m and Baker was fourth in the 400m.

On the men's side, Joe Cardinale led the way with a fourth-place finish in the shot put and a sixth-place finish in the discus with throws of 46 feet, 3/4 inches and 127 feet, 7 inches, respectively. Craig Matuza and Andy Moskowitz finished fifth and sixth in the hammer throw.

In addition, the men's 4x100m team of Rob DelGiorno, Henri St.Jean, Marcell Coley and Anthony Tallerico finished fifth, with a time of 45.37.

The Seawolves will compete at the Central Connecticut Invitational next Saturday, April 14.
