Track And Field Finishes Second At Iona Quad Meet

Pelham, N.Y. - The Seawolves track and field team opened its outdoor season at the Iona Quad Meet on March 20.

Nicola Baker had two first-place finishes, while Kereem Vargas, Chris Hunt, Abigail Nathanial and Corinne Leake each won an event.

Baker captured the 100m with a time of 13.3 seconds and also placed first in the 200m with a time of 26.8 seconds. Leake won the 400m in 60.3 seconds. The women's 4x100m relay won the event in 51.18 seconds, while the DMR team won in a time of 13:08.4. Jenny Payne finished second in the 3000m with a time of 10:10, while Patty Gregory was fourth with a time of 11:17. Laura Hixson finished third in the 1500m in 5:17.7. In field events, Nathanial won the long jump with a leap of 4.82 meters, while Nicole Lawrence placed second in the shot put with a throw of 8.34 meters.

On the men's side, Vargas won the 400m with a time of 51.3 seconds, while Hunt captured the 200m with a time of 23.8 seconds. Jason Hunt placed fourth in the 100m in 13.3 seconds, and Dave deWolfe was fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:09.4. Joe Cardinale finished in the runner-up spot with a toss of 12.91 meters in the shot put, while Elias Dimitriakis was second in the long jump with a leap of 5.72 meters.
