Sophomore Joe Cardinale earned two top-five finishes in field events to help lead the Stony Brook track and field team at the Central Connecticut Invitational this weekend.
Cardinale placed third in the discus with a toss of 148 feet, 11 inches. Cardinale, one of three Seawolves who placed in the top 10 in the shot put, was fourth with a distance of 45 feet, 4 1/2 inches.
Stewart Miles placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of of 43 feet, 5 3/4 inches, while Consta Sevdinoglou was eighth (41 feet, 10 3/4 inches).
Jason Hunt had a solid performance in the 110m high hurdles, finishing eighth with a time of 16.47.
Abigail Nathaniel recorded a pair of top 10 finishes in the 400m dash and the long jump. Nathaniel's time of 1:03.92 in the 400m was good for seventh place, while her leap of 15 feet, 9 1/2 inches placed her eighth.
The Seawolves next compete at the Chancellor's Cup at Binghamton University on April 20.
