Men's And Women's Tennis Sweeps Wagner

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis team dropped just one match to Wagner on Tuesday as the Seawolves won both dual matches, 7-0.

The women's team won every match without dropping a set. In doubles, Deanna Ghozati and Olesya Ianovitch did not drop a game in winning the No. 3 matchup, 8-0. Martha Barrett and Karen Hansen teamed up to win the No. 1 match, 8-1.

Barrett was also victorious at No. 1 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-1. No. 2 Patricia Gomez and No. 4 Georgia Bushell won both of their matches, 6-0, 6-0.

The men's team was almost as dominant. Wagner's only victory came at the No. 2 doubles spot, as Egil Anonsen and David Hewitt were defeated, 9-7 (9-7). However, the Seawolves dropped just one other game in doubles, as No. 1 Jens Pillgram-Larsen and Gareth Williams won, 8-1, while No. 3 Philippe Amireault and James Carpenter posted an 8-0 win.

In singles, Pillgram-Larsen and Anonsen dropped just two games apiece, with Pillgram-Larsen winning 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 and Anonsen capturing a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Amireault posted 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.

The Seawolves, who improve to 7-4 in both men's and women's action, return to the court on Thursday, when Stony Brook plays host to Sacred Heart.
