The Stony Brook women's tennis team posted two solid wins on Saturday, defeating Hofstra 5-2 before topping Wagner 5-1. Anne Cathrine Valle, Karen Hansen, Georgia Bushell and Lauren Conching each picked up two victories in singles matches on the afternoon.
Against Hofstra, the Seawolves posted wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to win the doubles point. At No. 1, the team of Anne Cathrine Valle / Georgia Bushell defeated Erika Reggiani/Adrianna Segura, 8-3, and at No. 2, Karen Hansen / Lauren Conching topped Allison Kelly/Jillian Sehark, 8-1.
Stony Brook then won four of the six singles slots to earn the victory. Valle knocked off Reggiani, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1, while Hansen breezed by Mayo Hosad, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2. Bushell earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Segura at No. 3, while Conching defeated Kelly 7-6, 6-2.
Against Wagner, Valle breezed by Jenny Ludvinsen, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, and Hansen defeated Gina Gelardo 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. At No. 3 Bushell topped Jessica Klett, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 Conching defeated Stephanie LaRocque 6-0, 6-1, while Ashley Ward earned a 6-0, 6-4 win over Kaitlin Schobertt.
