Track And Field Enjoys Success At St. John's Invitational

Jamaica, N.Y. - Three Seawolves won individual events at the St. John's Outdoor Track and Field Invitational on Monday afternoon.

Costa Sevdinoglou's toss of 13.35m in the shot put gave him first place, just ahead of teammate Joe Cardinale. Cardinale had a throw of 13.24m for the runner-up spot. Omar Moore took the triple jump with a leap of 12.41m. Laura Hixson completed the trio of winners with a first-place time of 10:32.0 in the 3000m steeplechase.

The women's 4x800m team also took first place in 9:06.7.

Stony Brook had several other finishers among the top five in each event. In the women's long jump, Abigail Nathaniel finished tied for fourth (5.31m). Nicola Baker took third in the first section of the women's 100m (12.3), while Dana Shepherd was third in the second section with a time of 12.4.

Kereem Vargas finished second in the 400m (51.5), while Henri St. Jean placed fifth in the 400m (54.7). Munira Paric was fourth in the 3000m steeplechase (11:29.0).

The women's 4x100m relay team also recorded a third-place finish with a time of 50.6.
