Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Lauren Brown was named athletic academic advisor at Stony Brook, associate director of athletics/senior woman administrator Donna Woodruff announced on Friday. Brown will serve as an advisor for Stony Brook baseball, women's lacrosse, volleyball, and men's and women's soccer, swimming and diving and track and field.
"We are fortunate to have added Lauren to our Student-Athlete Development staff," said Woodruff. "Her experiences at Villanova and Cornell have prepared her well for the challenges of guiding our student-athletes in their quests to balance academic success with the athletic, social and civic demands of being a member of the larger Stony Brook community."
Brown arrives at Stony Brook after spending the past year as a graduate assistant for operations and student services at Cornell University. While at Cornell, Brown had responsibilities in academic advising, Champs/Life Skills and the tutoring program, as well as game day management for men's basketball, volleyball, track, women's soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse.
Prior to her time at Cornell, Brown served as a marketing intern and an administrative fellow at Villanova University. At Villanova, she assisted in several areas of the athletic department, including student services, compliance, marketing and promotions.
A 2001 graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor's in marketing, Brown went on to earn her master's in sport and recreation administration from Temple University in August of 2004.
