Gainesville, Fla. - Leonora Joy broke her own school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase to lead Stony Brook at the NCAA Regionals at the University of Florida on Saturday night. Jackie Nunez posted her best time this season in the 1,500-meters and missed qualifying for the finals by just over a second.

Joy's time of 10.49.43 improved her own Stony Brook record by by seconds. She finished second in her section and 15th overall after entering the meet ranking 27th out of 38 competitors.

On Friday night, Nunez finished eighth in her heat in 4:29.87, just missing qualifying for the final by 1.32 seconds. Nunez entered the meet ranked 24th, and finished 15th overall.
