Stony Brook, N.Y. - "The Stony Brook Sports Report", a weekly half-hour television show chronicling the latest on Stony Brook athletics, will debut on January 3rd on Cablevision and January 6th on CSTV. The show, which will be shot on campus, will air for 13 consecutive weeks and be seen locally on Cablevision and nationally on CSTV and Direct TV Channel 610.

"The Stony Brook Sports Report" will include appearances each week by head women's basketball coach, Maura McHugh, and head men's basketball coach, Steve Pikiell. The show will also focus on the latest news, results, and top features surrounding Stony Brook atheltics.

"We are very pleased to launch our first televison show," said Director of Athletics, Jim Fiore. "The show will not only feature our outstanding basketball coaches each week, but will also bring to our fans many of the top student-athletes who excel on the courts or playing fields, in the classroom and in the community."

The first episode includes segments with women's basketball coach Maura McHugh and head men's basketball ooach Steve Pikiell. Newly hired head football coach Chuck Priore will be the subject of an interview and the first show will recap an outstanding fall season which saw the Seawolves capture championships in both football and men's soccer.

Jan Diskin-Zimmerman from the Stony Brook University Office of Educational Technologies will direct the program while veteran LaSalle basketball announcer Steve Degler will serve as host of the show. Degler has been the voice of Explorer basketball since the 1997-98 season.

The "Stony Brook Sports Report" can be seen locally on Cablevision throughout Long Island every Tuesday night beginning January 3rd. It will air on either Channel 18 or 60, depending on the Cabelvision system, to over 700,000 Cablevision subscribers on Long Island.

Long Island Cablevision Schedule
The Stony Brook Sports Report will be broadcast every Tuesday night for 13 weeks beginning Jan. 3, 2006 thru March 28, 2006.

Woodbury and Riverhead Systems: Watch the Sports Report on Channel 18 at 7:30 every Tuesday night from Jan. 3, 2006- March 28, 2006.

Hauppauge and Brookhaven Systems: Watch the Sports Report on Channel 60 at 7:30 for eight of the 13 weeks. The Sports Report will air at 6 p.m. on Jan. 10, Jan. 24, Mar. 7 and Mar. 21. It can be seen at 6:30 on Mar. 14.

CSTV Schedule
The Stony Brook Sports Report will debut on Friday, January 6th at 9:30 a.m. It will air every Friday for the following 12 weeks at 11:00 a.m.
