Women's Tennis Dominates Fairfield

Fairfield, Conn. - The Stony Brook women's tennis team dominated Fairfield en route to a 6-1 victory over the Stags on Saturday evening. With the victory, the Seawolves improve to 5-3 for the 2004-05 season.

Stony Brook swept the doubles matches to earn the opening point of the match as Anne Cathrine Valle and Sandy Wijeratne posted an 8-4 win at No. 1, Hana Chovanova and Monica Myers won 8-4 at No. 2 and Victoria Vasile and Rachel Kimelman eased to an 8-0 at No. 3.

The Seawolves dominated singles action, taking five of the six matches and only losing a combined five games in the five victories. Valle and Wijeratne double-bagled their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and No. 3 respectively, while Chovanova and Victoria Vovsha each only dropped a single game in their matches at No. 2 and No. 4. Kimelman had no trouble in her match at No. 6, winning 6-2, 6-1.

The Seawolves are back in action on March 6 when they take on Colgate.
