The Stony Brook women's tennis team lost a tight match to Fordham on Thursday, falling 4-3 to the Rams in the Bronx. With the loss, the Seawolves' record drops to 7-6 this season.
Stony Brook dropped the doubles point to open the match as only the No. 2 team of Hana Chovanova and Monica Myers were able to come away with a victory. The duo earned an 8-3 win while the teams of Anne Cathrine Valle and Sandy Wijeratne and Rachel Kimelman and Victoria Vasile lost tough 8-6 matches and No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
The Seawolves split the six singles matches as Chovanova earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 1, Monica Myers won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 and Rachel Kimelman eased to a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6. Valle had the best chance to give the Seawolves the fourth point, but was downed 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
The Brook is back in action on Saturday when it takes on Adelphi at noon in the first home match of the spring season.
