Stony Brook, N.Y. - Danielle DeGiorgio, a Stony Brook basketball alum and current medical student and Jessica Gleason, a junior on the Stony Brook swimming team, received this year's Debbie Whittemore Memorial Scholarship awards on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Debbie Whittemore Memorial Run.

The scholarship is presented to student-athletes who have displayed academic excellence and have made significant contributions to student life and athletics on the Stony Brook campus. Both DeGiorgio and Gleason have enjoyed successful careers in their respective sports as well as in the classroom.

The scholarship honors the memory of Debbie Whittemore, a former student athletic trainer and intramural employee.
