Rising senior Brian Farrell and recent Stony Brook graduates Jackie Nunez and Dale Summerville have had a busy few weeks on the international track circuit.
On July 3, Farrell captured the 5000-meter title at the Irish Under 23 Championships, crossing first in a time of 14:58.23 to earn his first National Championship.
Nunez, a Long Island resident representing the Dominican Republic, competed in the Central American Championships on July 10 in the Bahamas, finishing fourth in the 1500-meters.
Summerville, who is based in Belgium for the next five weeks in preparation for the World University Games, had a break through performance in Cuxhaven, Germany, on July 9 when finished seventh in the 3000-meters with a new personal best time of 8:03.76, an improvement of 10 seconds on his previous best for the distance. He finished 10 seconds behind American distance star Adam Goucher, who won the event in 7:53.49. Summerville will compete over the same distance again on July 20 in Gent, Belgium.
