Tovornik Named Assistant Athletic Trainer

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Mary Rose Tovornik, MA, ATC, has been named assistant athletic trainer at Stony Brook University, the athletic department announced. Tovornik will work primarily with the football team this Spring.

Tovornik joins the Seawolves staff after serving as assistant athletic trainer and assistant professor at Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania from 2004-06. At Lock Haven, Tovornik served as assistant athletic trainer for football, track and field, swimming, women's lacrosse, cross country, men's and women's basketball and helped with long-term rehabilitation. In addition, she taught two classes as an assistant professor.

Prior to working at Lock Haven, Tovornik was a full-time assistant athletic trainer for the football team at the University of Connecticut from 2002-04 and was a graduate assistant trainer for the Huskies from 1997-2002, covering football, women's soccer and baseball.

Tovornik earned her bachelor of science in Physical Education at Salisbury State University in 1997 and went on to earn her master of arts in Biomechanics at the University of Connecticut in 1999. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Philosophy in Adult Learning at UConn.
