The Stony Brook women's tennis team topped Hofstra, 6-1, to send out seniors Victoria Vasile and Arlene Barksdale in style. The seniors were recognized in a ceremony prior to the match. With the win the Seawolves improve to 9-5 on the year.
Stony Brook swept all three doubles matches to claim an early 1-0 lead. Paola Rodolfi and Erica Federgreen won at No. 1 doubles, 8-4, Claudia Sanua and Brooke Flanigan won at No. 2, 8-0 and Vasile and Barksdale won at No. 3, 8-2.
The Seawolves maintained their momentum as they won five of six singles matches to clinch the win. Sandy Wijeratne won at No. 2, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, Federgreen won at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1, Victoria Vovsha won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0, Shaina Murugan won at No. 5, 6-3, 6-1 and Caitlin Crowley won at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.
The Seawolves improve to action on Thursday when they take on Fordham at 3:00 p.m.
