Glassman Appointed Chair of NCAA Men's Tennis Subcommittee

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University head tennis coach, Gary Glassman, has been appointed as the chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee it was recently announced by the organization. Glassman, who is in his 10th season as the head of the men's and women's tennis program at Stony Brook, has been a member of the NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Committee since 2005.

As the East Region representative to the committee, Glassman is part of a group that is charged with the selection of teams and individuals for the NCAA Championships. In addition, committee members are also responsible for serving as chairs for their respective regional advisory committees, serve as the NCAA representative at first-and second-round events, administer all aspects of the men's and women's Division I Championships and assist in the preparation of supplements that are sent to the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet.

Glassman has made great strides with both the men's and women's tennis programs at Stony Brook, guiding his teams into consistent contenders for the America East Championship. In each of the last seven seasons both his men's and women's teams have made at least the quarterfinals of the America East Tournament, with his 2005-06 men's squad winning the America East Championship and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. Glassman has led the men's and women's squads to a .500 or better record in all but one of their combined 18 seasons during his tenure and has seen four of his squads earn ITA All-Academic Team recognition.
