Dec. 3, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook's men's and women's track & field teams were picked to finish sixth in the America East, according to the conferences preseason coaches poll which was released on Wednesday. The Seawolves are coming off a strong cross country season in which the women's team repeated as conference champions and the men finished in second place.

Stony Brook's 2008-09 track & field roster is stacked with young talent. Junior Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand), who won the men's individual cross country championship, will be looking to defend his 3,000-meter title while fellow classmate Alex Felce (Stroud, England) eyes a strong return to the indoor track season after having to sit out last year.

On the women's side, junior Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland), sophomores Holly and Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) and Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, New York) will lead a talented squad with a competitive edge in the distance events.
