Stony Brook Recognizes National Athletic Training Month

March 24, 2008

Stony Brook, N.Y. - During March, Athletic Trainers across America are being recognized for their commitment to helping people prevent injuries and stay health and active. Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers: health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations and disabilities. Athletic Trainers are highly educated and dedicated to the job at hand. Athletic Trainers can be found in high schools and colleges, corporations, professional sports, the military, performing arts, clinics, hospitals, and physician offices.
