Boston, Mass. -
It was a tough day on the courts for the Stony Brook women's tennis team as Boston University took a 6-1 decision over the Seawolves. Freshman Fanny Charliquart (Gueugnon, France) picked up the only win for Stony Brook in the match, claiming victory at No. 5 singles.
Boston University swept all three doubles matches to claim the first point of the day. Stony Brook (0-4) had its chances during the No. 2 match where Charliquart and senior Sandy Wijeratne (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) fell in a close 8-6 decision.
Boston University continued to hold the upper hand in singles play where it won four matches in straight sets to clinch the win. Charliquart foiled the bid by the Terriers for a sweep when she bounced back from a loss in the first set of her match against Danielle Abraham to score her first collegiate victory with a 4-6, 6-2 (11-9) decision. Junior Erica Federgreen (Scottsdale, Ariz.) also had her match go to three sets, but she fell to Yana Sadovskaya by a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 score.
Up next for Stony Brook will be a trip to Florida where the Seawolves will take on Drake in Ft. Myers on Tuesday, March 18 at 10:00 a.m.
