The Bronx, N.Y. - It was a second win in a row for the Stony Brook women's tennis team today as the Seawolves won the bottom four singles flights on its way to a 5-2 win over Fordham this afternoon. Senior Sandy Wijeratne (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) was one of three SBU players to win matches at both singles and doubles.

Stony Brook got things off on the right foot, taking two of the three doubles matches to win the first point of the day. Senior Victoria Vovsha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and freshman Fanny Charliquart (Gueugnon, France) took the No. 3 match easily with an 8-0 win while the tandem of Wijeratne and sophomore Paola Rodolfi (Asuncion, Paraguay) took the No. 2 flight in a much closer match, coming out on top by a 9-7 score.

With the doubles point in hand, Stony Brook started on its way to the team win in singles play, where all six matches were decided in straight sets. Three Seawolves won three of their matches without dropping a game in one of their set wins. Wijeratne won at No. 3 where she took a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ellenoira Featherston, while junior Erica Federgreen (Scottsdale, Ariz.) triumphed at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Martina Featherston. Charliquart dropped just one game on her way to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 match over Elizabeth Stall. Vovsha completed the SBU singles victories with her 6-1, 6-1 decision over Brittany Russell.

Stony Brook will host its first home match of the spring season next week when Sacred Heart will visit on Tuesday, April 1 at 2:30 p.m.
