Hempstead, N.Y. - Stony Brook's women's tennis team continued to roll today as the Seawolves won their fifth straight with a 5-2 win at Hofstra. Stony Brook took the win on the strength of five singles victories, including a 6-2, 6-0 win by junior Erica Federgreen (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

Hofstra took the first point of the day when it captured two doubles matches. The Pride came close to making it three for three, but the No. 3 SBU team of senior Victoria Vovsha (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and freshman Fanny Charliquart (Gueugnon, France) took an 8-6 victory to halt the sweep.

Stony Brook (5-6) bounced back from its doubles loss, winning five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets. Federgreen picked up her win at the No. 5 slot, downing Morganne Downing to put the Seawolves on the board. Vovsha and sophomore Claudia Sanua (Bryanston, South Africa) each dropped just four games in their wins, with Vovsha getting a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 and Sanua picking up the 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 2. Senior Sandy Wijeratne (Melbourne, Australia) won at No. 3 for Stony Brook, her sixth straight singles win, taking a 6-4, 6-4 win over Zoe Taylor. Charliquart rounded out the scoring for the Seawolves with her 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at No. 4 against Stacey Kent.

Up next for Stony Brook will be a trip to Vestal, New York where the Seawolves will face America East rival UMBC on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m.
