April 1, 2009

Stony Brook, N.Y. - For a second straight year the Stony Brook University Department of Athletics and its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will spearhead the Seawolves Shoe Drive that will collect shoes for the Soles4Souls organization. Also on board again this year is A-1 First Class - Viking Moving & Storage Inc, which will provide the shipping services for the shoes that are collected. The drive will be held from April 1-17.

"We are once again proud to be part of the shoe drive and support the tremendous efforts of Souls4Soles," said Matt Schwartzberg, President of A-1 First Class - Viking Moving & Storage. "Our offices and clients are excited to be able to continue and expand on the collections with both Stony Brook and Souls4Soles."

It will be university wide project this year, as the program has expanded to include drop boxes in all 36 residence halls on Stony Brook's campus in addition to collection points in the Department of Athletics. In the first drive last year more than 400 pairs of shoes were collected, sorted and sent to Soles4Souls.
