Hodge, Distance Medley Relay Win Titles At Met Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) won the 3,000m and the distance medley team of senior Alex Felce (Stroud, England), freshman Michael Lopizzo (Northport, N.Y.), junior Brandon Leung (Rego Park, N.Y.) and senior Daire Bermingham (Portmarnock, Ireland) won their event to lead the Stony Brook men's track and field team at the Metropolitan Championships on Saturday.

Running for the first time during the 2010 indoor season, Hodge won his event in 8:37.48. Sophomore Gerard Harley (Setauket, N.Y.) also scored in the 3,000m, finishing in eighth place with a time of 8:51.49.

For winning the distance medley relay (10:17.82), the foursome produced an IC4A qualifying time. Felce individually qualified for the IC4A's as he finished second in the 1,000m (2:28.67).

Also scoring in Saturday's meet was sophomore Matthew Carnes (Hillsborough, N.J.). Carnes tied for eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 12.79.

Stony Brook's track and field teams will be back at Yale next weekend to compete in the Giegengack Invitational.
