Conklin, Noel Lead Track & Field Teams At Monmouth Invitational

West Long Branch, N.J. - Sophomores Kristal Conklin (Middletown, N.Y.) and Justine Noel (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each won events to lead Stony Brook's track and field teams at the Monmouth Invitational on Saturday. Today's race was the first of the outdoor season.

Conklin won the 1500 in 4:42.43. Noel was tops in the 800 in a time of 2:19.66

Also finishing in the top 10 for the women's team was sophomore Christina Johnson (Elmont, N.Y.). She finished ninth in the 100 hurdles (16.36).

On the men's side, sophomore Mark Appledorf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and junior Alex Varone (Providence, R.I.) took eighth and tenth, respectively, in the 10,000. Appledorf crossed in 33:45.81 and Varone finished in 34:16.86.

Both teams will compete in Rhode Island at the Bryant University Quad on Tuesday afternoon.
