Stony Brook's track & field teams continued their outdoor season with the Carolina Classic hosted by the University of North Carolina. Junior Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) finished second in the 1,500. Senior Laura Huet (Carrickmines, Ireland) won the 3,000 and sophomore Gerard Harley (Setauket, N.Y.) took second in the 3,000.
Van Dalen posted the sixth fastest time in the country and third best in the East region (4:17.95). Huet finished the 1,500 in 10:09.22, most than nine seconds better than the second place finisher. Harley ran a personal best of 8:33.77. Sophomore Drew Dillingham (Riverhead, N.Y.) came in the fourth in the same event (8:42.30).
Sophomore Kristal Conklin (Middletown, N.Y.) had a season-best performance in the 800 with a time of 2:14.71.
Senior Daire Bermingham (Portmarnock, Ireland) narrowly missed the school record in the 1,500 (3:49.35), but qualified for IC4A's.
Both teams are back in action next weekend when they compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University.
