Sophomore Matthew Carnes (Hillsborough, N.J.) finished seventh in the javelin and sophomore Drew Dillingham (Riverhead, N.Y.) place ninth in 1,500 to lead the Stony Brook track & field teams at the Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend at Princeton University.
Carnes recorded a 54.06 in the javelin. Dillingham posted a 4:02.17 in the 1,500, a season best. Junior Shamell Forbes (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) also ran a season-best, finishing 14th in the 800 (1:58.00). Junior Brandon Leung (Rego Park, N.Y.) took 16th in the 800 (1:58.21).
On the women's side, sophomore Justine Noel (Brooklyn, N.Y.) narrowly missed out on a season-best time in the 800, crossing in 2:20.61.
The three-day Penn Relays are up next for both squads. Day one is scheduled for April 22.
