Princeton, N.J. -
Stony Brook's track & field teams continued their outdoor season at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Friday night. Seniors Alex Felce (Stroud, England) and Tim Hodge (Tawa, New Zealand) and junior Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, N.Y.) ran for the Seawolves.
Felce, in his outdoor season opener, finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:57.94). The time qualifies him for IC4As and puts him within striking distance for a spot at the NCAA Regional Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Hodge, who was also competing in his outdoor opener, ran a 14:17.87 in the 5,000. Also an IC4A qualifying time, he will have a chance to improve on his time come NCAA regionals.
Cortes placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing in 11:05.82.
The next outdoor event this season is UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill on April 10.
