West Point, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's women's tennis team defeated the Army Black Knights, 4-3, on Friday night at the Lichtenburg Tennis Center. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 2-1.

The Seawolves opened the match by earning the doubles point. Junior Katherine Hanson (Smithtown, N.Y.) and sophomore Chloe Pike (Bristol, England) won 8-4 at No. 2 while sophomore Aylin Mehter (Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior Gayatri Krishnan (Chennai, India) won 9-7 at the No. 3 spot.

Stony Brook then won three of the six singles matches to earn the one-point win. Sophomore Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) won her first singles match of the spring season, defeating Jessica Ahn, 6-3, 7-6 (8) at the No. 2 position.

The doubles duo of Krishnan and Mehter then each won their singles matches to earn the final two points for the Seawolves. Krishnan defeated Erin Colton at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-1, and Mehter knocked off Della Taylor, 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.
