Stony Brook University's women's tennis team won all six singles matches on its way to a 6-1 win over the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday at the Lichtenburg Tennis Center. With the win, Stony Brook is now 3-1.
Connecticut opened play by winning two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. Sophomore Aylin Mehter (Massapequa, N.Y.) and senior Gayatri Krishnan won the only doubles match for SBU at the No. 3 position, 8-1.
But Stony Brook dropped just one set in singles play. Junior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India) won 10-7 in a third set at No. 1 before the rest of the Seawolves won in straight sets. Krishnan lost just one game at No. 5, while Mehter won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3.
Stony Brook returns to action on Friday, traveling to take on Saint Joseph's.
