Women's Tennis Falls to No. 53 Brown, 6-1

Providence, R.I. - Stony Brook University's women's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped on Sunday, falling to No. 53 Brown, 6-1. Senior Gayatri Krishnan (Chennai, India) earned SBU's only point with a win at No. 5 singles.

Brown opened the match by winning two of the three doubles contests to earn the first point of the match. Sophomore Chloe Pike (Bristol, England) and junior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India) won 8-6 at the No. 2 position.

But Brown then won five of the six singles matches to win the match. Krishnan cruised to victory at No. 5, 6-4, 6-3. Junior Katherine Hanson (Smithtown, N.Y.) lost 6-4 in the third at No. 4 singles.

The Seawolves return to action on Sunday, traveling to take on Yale.
