Stony Brook University women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over LIU on Saturday at University Courts. The Seawolves did not drop a set as they improved to 8-3.
SBU opened by dropping just one game to earn the doubles point. Seniors Gayatri Krishnan (Chennai, India) and Fanny Charliquart (Gueugnon, France) won 8-1 at No. 1 while juniors Katherine Hanson (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Salome Mkervalidze (Brewster, N.Y.) coasted to an 8-0 win at No. 2.
Stony Brook then did not drop a set in singles play. Sophomore Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 while sophomore Aylin Mehter (Massapequa, N.Y.) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Junior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India) did not drop a game at No. 3 and Hanson won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.
The Seawolves return to action on Sunday, traveling to take on Quinnipiac. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
