Boise, Idaho - Senior Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) advanced to Saturday's final in the mile at the NCAA Track & Field Championships at Boise State. She ran a 4:40.29, which is a new Jacksons Indoor Track record, breaking the previous mark by a tenth of a second.

Van Dalen finished first in heat one, besting Virginia's Morgane Gay (4:40.45) and Arkansas' Kristen Gillespie (4:40.47).

Saturday's final is scheduled for 8:25 p.m. ET (6:25 local). By finishing first, she would win Stony Brook's first individual national title.

Less than two hours later, Van Dalen will compete in the 3,000 final, scheduled for 10:10 ET.
