Women's tennis headed back to conference finals

The Stony Brook women's tennis team is one win away from a trip back to the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 victory over No. 4 Binghamton Saturday afternoon at the America East Championships.  The Seawolves, seeded first, will await the winner of No. 2 Albany and No. 3 UMBC.

The duo of freshmen Jackie Altansarnai (Hinsdale, Ill.) and Louise Badoche (Paris, France) won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.  Freshman Becky Shtilkind (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore Cassandra Dix (Northamptonshire, United Kingdom) helped clinch the doubles point with a dominating 8-1 win.

Senior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) won easily, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and sophomore Polina Movchan (Kiev, Ukraine) followed that up with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles to give Stony Brook a 3-0 lead.  

Badoche clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.

Tomorrow championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
