New Haven, Conn. –Two relay squads placed first, while senior Mary O’Connor, Danielle Cornell and Andrea Giannini each placed in the top-three in individual events Sunday at the Yale Invite in New Haven, Conn.
Daniel Denis, James Snak, Bradley Amazan and Adam Jacobs teamed up for top-honors in the men’s 4x800 relay in 7:54.80, beating Vassar by more than 14 seconds. Vassar placed second in 8:08.83.
Cornell, O’Connor, Page Price and Robin Lynn crossed the finish line first in the women’s 4x400 relay and posted a time of 4:08.09.
Giannini, a junior, was second in the women’s javelin with a 36.84-meter throw.
O’Connor raced to a second-place result in the women’s 400 in 58.94, while freshman Crystal Yeates finished eighth in 1:00.66 and senior LaQuashia Hall took 10th in 1:00.91.
Cornell was second in the women’s 800 with a time of 2:18.41. Lynn and Price finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in 2:21.76 and 2:22.32.
Kate Pouder clocked in at 4:51.76 and placed sixth in the women’s 1500, and Sara Conway finished fifth in the high jump on a 1.56-meter leap.
Anthony Fratto impressed in the men’s hammer with a fourth-place finish with a 46.09-meter throw.
Denis took seventh in the men’s 800-meter with a time of 1:57.32. Sam Kimmey placed 10th in the men’s 1500 in 4:03.49.
Vincenzo Battaglia was ninth in the men’s 400 in 51.59, while Amazan finished right behind him in 10th in 51.78.
Stony Brook next competes in the America East Championships May 4-5 in Binghamton, N.Y.
