Boston, Mass. – Senior Olivia Burne of the Stony Brook women’s track team turned in another stellar performance in the mile Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University. The Palmerston, New Zealand native placed fourth overall and first among collegiate athletes in 4:38.28.
The time qualified Burne for the ECACs for the second time this season. She set a new personal record when she ran the event in 4:38.10 at Boston University’s Terrier Invite Jan. 18. That time still ranks in the top 10 nationally for the 2013-14 collegiate indoor track season.
Burne previously met the ECAC standard in the 1,000 when she placed first in 2:51.50 at the NYU Saturday Night Shootout Jan. 19.
The Seawolves have sent most of their men’s and women’s track and field squads to the Giegengack Invitational, where they will compete Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
