Cambridge, Mass. - The Stony Brook men’s and women’s basketball teams have been selected for a total of nine televised games through the America East’s package with ESPN3, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The nine #Seawolves games are a part of the largest package in conference history, which features 16 men’s and nine women’s regular season games. Both the men’s team and the women’s team are also eligible for up to two more regular season games as America East will produce four wild card games during the final week of the regular season.
America East’s robust package also includes most postseason games. The America East Women’s Basketball Championship quarterfinals and semifinals March 7-8 will air on ESPN3. The semifinals of the America East Men’s Basketball Playoffs on March 8 will also air on ESPN3. The women’s championship game on March 13 will be broadcast on ESPNU at 4:30 p.m., and the championship game of the men’s playoffs will air on ESPN2 March 14 at 11 a.m.
The #Seawolves men’s games on ESPN3 include Jan. 10 at Vermont, Jan. 19 at home against Albany, Jan. 28 at home versus Hartford, Feb. 7 at home against Vermont, Feb. 11 at UMBC and Feb. 17 at Albany.
The #Seawolves women’s games on ESPN3 will all be at home, taking on Maine on Jan. 17, Hartford on Jan. 29 and Albany on Feb. 22.
The men’s team, under 10th-year head coach Steve Pikiell, is returning seven letter winners from last season’s team, including 2014 America East Player of the Year Jameel Warney. The #Seawolves will christen newly renovated Stony Brook Arena with their Nov. 14 home opener against Columbia at 7 p.m.
The women’s team, guided by first-year head coach Caroline McCombs, will return eight letter winners from last season’s squad, including 2014 first-team All-America East forward Sabre Proctor. The #Seawolves will commence the season with their Stony Brook Arena home opener Nov. 15 versus St. Peter’s at 7 p.m.
