West Point, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's tennis team opened the spring season with victories over Connecticut and Army.

The Seawolves rallied after losing the doubles point to the Huskies, earning singles wins in the middle of the lineup.

Sophomore Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill.), who clinched the match with a win at No. 2 singles, outlasted Emma Alderson, 7-6 (4), in the third set.

Freshman Elizabeth Tsvetkov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rallied for a win at No. 3 after losing the first set.

Sophomore Nadia Smergut (New York, N.Y.) and junior Louise Badoche (Paris, France) won their matches in straight sets.

Against Army, Stony Brook earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.

Freshman Kristina Vozniak (Kiev, Ukraine) led the Seawolves' singles charge with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Carolyn Pitman.

Stony Brook will take on Seton Hall and Lehigh next weekend.
