STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Stony Brook Athletics has announced that it will supply each student-athlete with a new iPad for the 2015-16 academic year as part of its bold five-year strategic vision, Together We Transform, designed to positively transform the lives of each student-athlete.
The Seawolves men's basketball team was the first group of student-athletes to receive the iPads prior to them embarking on its European tour this Sunday. The football team also received their iPads today, and the remaining 320 student-athletes will receive their iPads as they report to campus for preseason practices or prior to fall classes.
This program will benefit all Stony Brook student-athletes academically and allow them to have greater ease of access to online information, blackboard, learning apps and e-textbooks as a result of having their own individual iPad. In addition, there will be new and creative opportunities to push video and messaging to our student-athletes in a timely manner to benefit their athletic performance.
"There is no question that providing iPads to each of our student-athletes will enhance their Stony Brook experience and impact their lives in a positive and productive way," Stony Brook Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron said. "I am grateful to our colleagues with the Division of Information Technology for their work on rolling out this critical initiative."
