STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook University has named the members of its second annual 40 Under Forty alumni recognition program. The University will celebrate these early career high achievers at an awards event on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at The Edison Ballroom in New York City.
Selected from a diverse nominee pool of Stony Brook graduates, the honorees represent the University's most creative and bold young professionals in science, technology, engineering, and medicine, as well as business, sports, and the arts, from groundbreaking researchers and tech innovators, to healthcare advocates and civic heroes.
Among the list are three former student-athletes and a Seawolves' supporter. The list includes current Miami Marlins pitcher and former Seawolves baseball star Tom Koehler '08 (bio), current Los Angeles Rams reporter and former Stony Brook women's basketball star Dani Klupenger '13 (bio), current JPMorgan Chase & Co. Executive Director and former Seawolves cross country and track standout William Dale Summerville '05 (bio) and current professional boxer and Seawolves United board member Chris Algieri '07 (bio).
"Stony Brook University graduates are ambitious and creative. They're passionately engaged in issues that matter and are pushing the boundaries of knowledge and expectations in their fields," said Stony Brook University President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. "This year's 40 Under Forty honorees represent some of Stony Brook's most influential and focused young alumni."
Dexter A. Bailey, senior vice president for University Advancement said honorees are nominated by their peers and selected for their achievements in their fields as well as their leadership and community engagement.
"Now in its second year, our 40 Under Forty program continues to validate that Stony Brook alumni are a driven, imaginative community in the pursuit of innovative ideas and solutions," said Bailey. "We couldn't be more proud of each and every one of them."
