Vestal, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's tennis team split a pair of road matches, beating Binghamton before falling to Albany.

The Seawolves defeated the Bearcats, 6-1, Friday and lost to the Great Danes, 4-0, Saturday afternoon.

Stony Brook (8-5, 2-1 America East) claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.

Junior Nadia Smergut (New York, N.Y.) and senior Becky Shtilkind (Brooklyn, N.Y.) beat the duo of DiMuro/Kohtz, 6-2 at No. 2.

The Seawolves won five of the six singles flights.  Sophomore Yana Nikolaeva (Thornhill, Ontario) beat Kohtz, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1.  Freshman Devanshi Bhimjiyani (Rajkot, India) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.  Senior Louise Badoche (Paris, France) rallied for a three-set victory at No. 5.

Against Albany, Nikolaeva and sophomore Elizabeth Tsvetkov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Stony Brook was ahead in two singles matches when the game was clinched.

The Seawolves will host Hartford and St. John's next weekend.
