Burlington, Vt. –
The Stony Brook women’s outdoor track & field team set a program-best for total points in the America East Championships as the women’s and men’s teams completed the conference meet Sunday.

Freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) was named Rookie of the Meet after a school-record leap in the long jump, second-place finish in the 4x100 relay and third-place result in the 100m dash.

The Seawolves women finished fourth with 111 points, while the men were eighth with 44 points. Albany took the men’s and women’s titles.

Coach Ronan’s Take
“We are very excited by the performance of our women's squad this weekend. It was great to watch them compete. There were so many outstanding performances … McKyla Brooks, Kaylyn Gordon, Nikki Fogarty, Chinque Thompson really were top class. This is a young group, so it sets the program up to be a top-three program in the conference over the next few years.

“The men's group had a solid meet, they did not have the extra gear that the women had, but they gave it a decent effort.”
