STONY BROOK, N.Y. - For the second-straight day, Stony Brook softball split a pair of games against Brown and Holy Cross at the Stony Brook Invitational. The Seawolves fell to Brown, 4-2, in the first game of the day, then finished the weekend by cruising past Holy Cross, 11-2.

Freshman
Allyssa Malony (Runnemede, N.J.) led the way for Stony Brook, blasting two home runs in the win over Holy Cross. She went 3-for-7 on the day in total with 4 RBI's and three runs scored.

Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) also stayed hot at the plate, going 5-for-6 on the day with two runs, an RBI and her third home run in the last three games. Hering homered in the bottom of the sixth inning of the first game vs. Brown.

Sophomore Catcher Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) also homered in Game 2, going 3-for-6 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI.
Lindsey Hughes (San Dimas, Calif.) was dominant on the mound all day, pitching a combined 6.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen over two games. She earned the win in Game 2.

Game 1: Brown 4, Stony Brook 2

Hering went 3-for-4 at the disk from the leadoff spot for Stony Brook, scoring a run and recording an RBI in the loss.

Maddy Neales (Orange, Calif.) got the start on the mound for the Seawolves, going 1.2 innings while giving up just two hits and two runs.
Alex Petrolia (Henderson, Nev.) lasted the next 1.2 innings, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out three batters.

Hughes was impressive out of the bullpen for the second day in a row, throwing the 3.2 scoreless innings. Hughes gave up just two hits and struck out four.
Game 2: Stony Brook 11, Holy Cross 2

Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) went the first 4.0 innings in the circle for the Seawolves, giving up seven hits and two runs with three strikeouts.

Hughes then came in out of the pen once again and dominated, going the last 3.0 innings with three strikeouts. She gave up no hits and no runs in the win.
Rivera recorded three hits, Hering had two and Maloney had two in the win for the Seawolves. Stony Brook had 13 total hits in the win - their third of the 2017 season.
On Deck
The Seawolves are back in action tomorrow afternoon, hosting Monmouth in a doubleheader at University Field that begins at 2 p.m.
